About the Life LAB Method
What Does Working With a Functional Nutrition Coach Actually Look Like, Step by Step?
Think of it as becoming your own health detective. Rather than handing you another generic protocol, we’ll walk through a process designed to help you understand why you’re feeling the way you do and what your unique body may need.
- Start with education.
Everything begins with understanding the foundations of the Life LAB Method. You’ll learn how to better understand your body, recognize important patterns, and start gathering meaningful health data. Watch the free Health Freedom masterclass here to start learning. - Connect the dots.
We’ll look at your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, nutrition, and other factors to begin identifying areas that may deserve a closer look. - Explore functional lab testing.
When appropriate, you’ll have the opportunity to use functional lab testing to gather deeper information about what may be happening beneath the surface. - Create your personalized plan.
Your recommendations are based on your body, your goals, and your data—not a one-size-fits-all protocol. This may include nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, and other wellness strategies. - Implement, learn, and adjust.
This is where the real work happens. You’ll put your recommendations into practice, learn how your body responds, and receive support along the way.
The goal isn’t to make you dependent on another practitioner or give you an endless list of things to do. It’s to give you the knowledge, tools, and personalized insight to become your own best health detective.
How Is Working With Leah Different From a Typical Functional Nutrition Coach, Doctor, or Dietitian?
Every healthcare professional has a different role, training, and approach. What makes working with me different is the way I connect the dots across your individual health story.
Rather than focusing on a single symptom or isolated lab result, I look at the bigger picture—including your symptoms, health history, nutrition, lifestyle, functional wellness data, and how different body systems may be interacting.
From there, we can identify patterns, prioritize the areas that may need the most attention, and create a personalized wellness strategy based on your unique biology—not generic recommendations or endless trial and error.
My approach combines functional wellness education, personalized lab analysis, nutrition, and one-on-one support, with a foundation rooted in science, data, and faith that our Creator designed our bodies to heal.
Most importantly, my goal isn’t to make you dependent on me for answers. I want to teach you how to understand your own body, ask better questions, and become your own best health detective.
Is Leah Blondin a Certified FDN-P, and What Training Does That Credential Require?
Yes! I’m a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® Practitioner (FDN-P) and a Walsh-Certified Mental Health Practitioner.
My FDN training provided in-depth education in functional health assessment, functional lab analysis, and identifying patterns that may be contributing to chronic health concerns. This training is centered on looking at the body as a whole and using health history, symptoms, and functional wellness data to guide personalized recommendations.
I also maintain my advanced practitioner membership and continuing education, allowing me to continue expanding my knowledge and stay current with evolving research, functional wellness practices, and industry education.
It’s important to note that these credentials do not make me a medical doctor or licensed medical provider. My role is to provide functional nutrition education, wellness coaching, and personalized support—not to diagnose or treat disease.
How Long Does It Take to Get Results Working With a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner?
There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline—because your starting point is unique.
Some clients notice changes in energy, digestion, sleep, cravings, or other symptoms within the first few weeks of implementing their recommendations. For others, especially when there are multiple factors to address, meaningful progress can take longer.
In general, I encourage clients to think in terms of 3–6 months, rather than looking for an overnight fix. Your results depend on your individual health history, the factors we uncover, how your body responds, and—perhaps most importantly—your consistency with the recommendations.
The goal isn’t simply to make you feel better temporarily. It’s to understand what may be contributing to how you feel, address your foundational wellness needs, and give your body the support it needs to move in a healthier direction.
And throughout the process, we’ll continue evaluating your progress and adjusting your approach as needed. You don’t have to figure it all out at once—we’ll work through it one step at a time.
Do You Treat or Diagnose Disease?
No. Life LAB does not diagnose, treat, or cure disease or medical conditions.
Functional nutrition takes a different approach than conventional medical care. Rather than diagnosing a condition, we use your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, and functional wellness testing to look for patterns, imbalances, and underlying stressors that may be affecting how you feel and function.
From there, we provide nutrition, lifestyle, and supplement recommendations designed to support your body’s natural processes and overall wellness.
Our goal is not to replace your doctor or medical care, but to provide an additional layer of personalized education, wellness support, and investigation that can help you better understand your unique body.
If your symptoms or lab results suggest that medical evaluation is needed, we’ll encourage you to work with an appropriately licensed healthcare professional.
Functional Labs & Personalized Health
What Is Functional Health Lab Testing, and What Can It Reveal?
Functional health lab testing is a tool we use to gather more personalized information about how your body is functioning.
While conventional lab work is often used to diagnose or rule out specific medical conditions, functional wellness testing can provide additional context around patterns that may be influencing how you feel and function.
Depending on your individual needs and goals, testing may provide insight into areas such as:
- Nutrient status and potential deficiencies
- Mineral balance
- Hormone and stress patterns
- Gut and digestive health
- Food sensitivities
- Metabolic and blood sugar patterns
- Other foundational wellness markers
The real value isn’t simply in the numbers—it’s in connecting those numbers with your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and goals.
Rather than guessing at what your body might need, functional testing can give us additional data to help identify patterns, prioritize areas of focus, and create a more personalized wellness strategy.
Think of it as adding another layer of information to help you become your own health detective.
Â
Do I Need Functional Labs if My Doctor Already Said My Labs Are “Normal”?
Not necessarily—but they can provide a different layer of information.
Conventional lab testing and functional wellness testing can serve different purposes. Your doctor may use standard labs to screen for, diagnose, or monitor specific medical conditions, while functional testing can provide additional insight into patterns related to nutrition, hormones, digestion, metabolism, mineral balance, and other areas of wellness.
So if your standard labs are “normal” but you still don’t feel like yourself, functional testing may give us additional context to explore.
That doesn’t mean something is necessarily wrong or that your doctor missed a diagnosis. It simply means there may be more questions worth asking about your overall health and how you’re feeling.
At Life LAB, we don’t believe you need to order every test available. The goal is to determine whether testing would actually be useful for you—and, if so, choose testing based on your symptoms, history, goals, and the specific questions we’re trying to answer.
Â
Do You Offer At-Home Functional Lab Testing, and What Does It Cover?
Yes! Life LAB offers convenient at-home functional wellness testing that can help us gather a deeper picture of your unique biochemistry and health patterns—without always requiring a trip to a lab or doctor’s office.
Depending on your individual needs and goals, testing may explore areas such as:
- Micronutrient status
- Hormones & stress patterns
- Gut health & digestion
- Mineral balance
- Food sensitivities
- Metabolic & blood sugar patterns
- Other foundational wellness markers
You won’t necessarily need every test. Testing is selected based on your unique history, symptoms, goals, and what we’re trying to investigate.
Rather than focusing on one isolated marker, functional testing can help us connect the dots across multiple systems and create a more personalized picture of what may be influencing how you feel.
The goal isn’t to order more tests—it’s to gather the right information so we can make more informed wellness recommendations.
How Is This Different From a Single Functional Lab I’ve Tried Before?
Because one test rarely tells the whole story.
A single functional lab can provide valuable information, but it’s just one piece of the puzzle. At Life LAB, we look at the bigger picture—how different systems may be interacting and how those patterns connect with your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, nutrition, and goals.
Rather than ordering every test under the sun, we focus on gathering the right information to answer the right questions.
When appropriate, we may evaluate multiple areas such as nutrient status, hormones, gut health, mineral balance, metabolism, and other foundational wellness markers. Then we connect those insights to your individual experience to help prioritize what to focus on first.
The goal isn’t simply to give you more data. It’s to help you make sense of the data you already have—and turn it into a personalized plan for what to do next.
How Long Does It Take to Get a Bio-Individual Plan After My Labs Are In?
Most functional lab results are returned within approximately 2–4 weeks, depending on the specific test.
Once your results are in, I take the time to thoroughly review your labs alongside your symptoms, health history, goals, and other relevant information. From there, I develop your personalized, bio-individual wellness plan and recommendations.
For that reason, I recommend allowing approximately 6 weeks from the time your labs are submitted to receiving your complete personalized plan. In many cases, you may receive your recommendations sooner.
I intentionally build this time into the process because your results deserve more than a quick glance and a generic protocol. The goal is to thoughtfully connect the dots and give you a plan that is truly tailored to you.
Do I Have to Do Functional Lab Testing to Work With You?
Not necessarily. While labs can provide valuable insight, they aren’t always the first step. If you aren’t ready to work 1:1 or do functional labs, I’d encourage you to start with The Life LAB Academy for building a healthy foundation.
Can You Review Labs I’ve Already Had Done?
Absolutely! If we’re currently working together 1:1 and you have recent lab results from the past 3 months, you can upload them directly to your client portal for our team to review.
If you’re not currently working with me 1:1, a la carte lab review sessions are available exclusively to Life LAB Inner Circle members. As a member, you can book a Lab Review Session and we’ll walk through your results together, answer your questions, and discuss what your next best steps may be.
Is the Life LAB Right For Me?Â
Is the Life LAB Method Right for Me if My Doctor Says My Labs Are Normal?
Absolutely. This is one of the reasons the Life LAB Method was created.
Many women know something doesn’t feel right long before they have a diagnosis or their conventional lab work falls outside the standard reference ranges.
You may have been told that your labs are “normal,” yet still be dealing with things like fatigue, brain fog, digestive changes, stubborn weight changes, or shifts in how you feel day to day.
The Life LAB Method takes a broader wellness perspective. Rather than looking only for what is technically “out of range,” we look at your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, nutrition, and functional wellness data as a whole to identify patterns that may help explain what you’re experiencing.
This isn’t about proving that something is wrong when your doctor says you’re healthy—and it’s not a replacement for medical care. It’s about asking better questions, looking at the bigger picture, and helping you understand your body on a deeper level.
Will This Approach Work for Me?
If you’ve tried countless diets, supplements, practitioners, or wellness protocols and still don’t feel like yourself, it’s completely understandable to wonder, “What makes this any different?”
The truth is, I can’t promise a specific outcome—because your body is unique, and there is no one protocol that works for everyone.
What I can promise is that we won’t take a one-size-fits-all approach or simply give you another list of things to try. We’ll investigate. We’ll look at your symptoms, history, lifestyle, and functional lab data to help uncover patterns and identify where your body may need support.
That’s exactly what changed things for me. After experiencing my own medical dead ends, functional lab testing helped me connect the dots and finally understand what my body was asking for. That experience is at the heart of how I care for my clients today.
Your results will depend on your unique starting point, how your body responds, and how consistently you’re able to implement your recommendations. But if you’re willing to do the work, we’ll give your health the thorough investigation, personalized strategy, and ongoing support it deserves.
Many clients begin experiencing meaningful changes within 3–6 months, while also gaining something incredibly valuable: a clearer understanding of their body and what it needs to thrive.
Can Functional Nutrition Coaching Help With “Adrenal Fatigue” or Fertility?
It can be a valuable piece of the puzzle—but it’s not a replacement for medical care.
At Life LAB, we don’t focus on chasing individual diagnoses or treating specific conditions. Instead, we take a whole-body approach and look at the nutritional, lifestyle, and wellness factors that may be placing additional stress on your body or affecting how you feel and function.
For concerns such as persistent fatigue, stress, hormone changes, or fertility goals, we may look at areas like nutrition, micronutrient status, blood sugar balance, stress patterns, sleep, digestion, and other foundational factors.
While I can’t promise that functional nutrition coaching will resolve a specific condition or improve fertility outcomes, supporting the foundations of health can be an important part of your overall wellness journey.
And if you’re experiencing significant symptoms or actively navigating fertility challenges, we encourage you to work alongside your physician or qualified medical provider while using functional nutrition as a complementary layer of support.
Can This Support Hormone Balance, Weight Loss, or Postpartum Recovery?
Yes—these are common goals among the women I work with.
Many of my clients are navigating hormone changes, stubborn weight, postpartum shifts, low energy, digestive concerns, or simply don’t feel like themselves after having children.
Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we look at the foundational factors that can influence how you feel and function, including nutrition, lifestyle, stress, sleep, blood sugar patterns, nutrient status, digestion, and other areas identified through your health history and functional wellness testing.
From there, we create a personalized plan focused on supporting your body and building sustainable habits that fit your life.
I can’t promise a specific amount of weight loss, hormone changes, or a particular postpartum outcome—but I can promise that we’ll look beyond the surface and work to understand what your unique body needs to thrive.
If you’re postpartum or experiencing significant symptoms, Life LAB coaching can complement—not replace—care from your physician or other qualified healthcare provider.
Working With the Life LAB
Do You Work Across State Lines or Outside of the United States?
Yes! Life LAB currently works with clients across the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
Because Life LAB’s services are focused on functional wellness education, coaching, and personalized wellness support—not medical diagnosis or treatment—we’re able to support clients in many different locations.
That said, lab testing regulations and shipping restrictions can vary by state and country, so certain tests may not be available everywhere. We’ll help you determine what options are available based on your location before moving forward.
If you’re outside the U.S. or have questions about whether we can work with you where you live, we’re happy to discuss your specific situation during your free Clarity Call.
How Much of a Time Commitment Will This Be?
That really depends on which coaching option you choose and how much you want to get out of the experience.
The primary time commitment is attending your included 1:1 sessions. Everything you do between sessions—watching educational materials, meal prepping, tracking food or symptoms, implementing lifestyle changes, using supportive tools, and learning about your unique health—is designed to fit into your life and your goals.
There’s no rigid homework schedule or requirement to do everything. You get to choose your level of participation.
If you want to give the program your full effort, a good estimate is approximately 2–5 hours per week. But even small, consistent changes can move you forward—you don’t have to be perfect to make progress.
Do You Take Insurance or Will My HSA or FSA Cover Payments?
Life LAB services are not billed through or covered by traditional medical insurance.
Depending on your individual plan, you may be able to use HSA or FSA funds for certain eligible health-related expenses. Some clients have successfully used their HSA/FSA cards for qualifying wellness products, services, supplements, & other eligible expenses.
Because eligibility varies by plan and expense, we recommend checking directly with your HSA/FSA provider to confirm what is covered before making a purchase.
Do You Provide Support After the Initial Program Is Completed?
Absolutely! My hope is that The Life LAB becomes your go-to for long-term wellness. Â
After your initial program, you’ll have options to extend your current coaching & purchase follow-up labs at your convenience. Â
I highly recommend a yearly Comprehensive Blood Work Panel & a yearly Micronutrient Panel, as well as a custom multi-vitamin to keep you on track with cellular health long term.Â
